Senior Iranian and Pakistani maritime research officials inked an agreement to cooperate in research projects at sea and ocean. The agreement signed by Managing Director of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography (INIO) Vahid Chegini and his Pakistani counterpart Ali Rashid Tabriz. Chegini said the two countries can use each other's facilities in the research projects at sea and ocean.
Exchange of students and instructors, organising workshops and joint meetings, undertaking joint research studies and educational co-operation are among the items of the agreement, he was quoted by the Islamic republic news agency as saying. Establishing regional oceanography center of West Asia has also been enshrined by the agreement, Chegini said. Rashid Tabriz, for his part, voiced Pakistan's preparedness to promote mutual co-operation. Iran has always enjoyed very close and intimate relations with Pakistan throughout the history. The two countries exchange delegations on a regular basis and their leaders are resolved to further accelerate expansion of ties and co-operation.
