The Lahore High Court here on Wednesday sought replies in response to an application seeking a ban on media coverage of MQM chief Altaf Hussain's speeches. The court on May 24 had sought replies from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and Altaf Hussain within two weeks.
The replies on behalf of the federal government and Altaf Hussain have not been submitted so far. A bar member, Fayyaz Ahmad Mehr, moved this application in his already pending petition seeking a ban on MQM and arrest order of its chief Altaf Hussain for allegedly uttering words against the ideology of Pakistan in his speech.
