The German Chancellor, Dr Angela Merkel, sent a letter to the new Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and congratulated him on his election. In a statement released by Embassy of Germany here on Wednesday, she wrote: "Please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I wish you every success in performing the responsible duties incumbent on you during your new term of office."
The German Government will continue to support the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in its upcoming political and economic reforms on the basis of the existing trust-based co-operation, she added. She further added that she is looking forward to working with the new Prime Minister to intensify the good and friendly relations between the two countries.-PR
