Secretary-General, Jamaat-i-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, congratulated Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on his election as Prime Minister for the third time, and said the new premier would have to take concrete steps to solve people's problems and uplift the country's economy, and to free the country from US slavery.
Talking to media here on Wednesday, he said the continuation of the democratic process would end the chances of military adventurers. Besides, he said, the democratic values and institutions including the constitution, independence of the judiciary and the parliamentary democracy should be protected. He said the menace of corruption could be eradicated through public education and co-operation.
Meanwhile, in an interview with the Iranian news agency IRNA on the occasion of the 24th death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, Liaqat Baloch said Imam Khomeini had liberated Iranian people from the dictatorship and family bondages. He further said the Iranian revolution had long lasting effects and the present upsurge in the Arab world or the Arab Spring is also a result of the same, and added that the Palestine issue has also been revived by the Iranian revolution. Liaqat Bloch said Europe and Israel did not like stability and progress in Turkey and are hatching conspiracies against the Turkish government by supporting the current protests in the country.
