The protesting doctors of Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Thursday called off their three-day long strike after the Executive Director of JPMC, Dr Tasneem Ahsan and Senior Director, Dr Seemien Jamali were removed from their posts. Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi, Administrator KMC, has been given the additional charge of JPMC director. The routine operations would be carried out on Thursday (today).
Representative of JPMC Doctors Association said that that all OPDs would remain open on Friday with routine work will continue in all departments and sections of the hospital. The doctors associations held talks with Sindh Health Department high ups, demanding removal of aforementioned officers.
The health department high up accepted their demand and it was agreed that issues related to availability of medicines, promotions of doctors, fresh induction's would also be ensured on urgent basis with due provision for merit. Doctors have welcomed the development and hoped it would help in maintaining good relations between JPMC doctors and patients. As many as 250 operations were cancelled and over 7000 OPD patients suffered during the three-day strike.
