Describing the terrorists attack on Imamia colony as security lapse, the members of Shia community have asked to take perpetrators to task, demanding of the government to announce a special compensation package for victims' families of the bomb blast and in various targeted killing incidents.
Speaking at a news conference at press club on Thursday, the Imamia Rabta Council Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Executive Syed Hasnain Haider said that the community had put forward a security plan before the law enforcement agencies for the protection of Shia community residential areas and their worship places prior to the attack on Imamia colony near Gulbahar in Peshawar a few weeks back.
He, however, lamented that the proposed security plan was not followed, because of which terrorists strike down on the Imamia colony. He described that it was a biggest security lapse on part of government and law enforcement agencies, he maintained. Accompanied by the council members, Syed Azhar Kazmi, Salamat Ali Jaffari, Nisar Ali, Haider said that more than 15 members of Shia community had fallen prey of targeted killing in district Peshawar. But, he regretted that government and law enforcement agencies had failed to take action against the banned outfits, who were allegedly involved in the killing of Shias in Peshawar and elsewhere in the KP.
"We have high expectations from the newly elected coalition government in KP, which would take important steps for protection of Shia community and controlling the increasing incidents of targeted killing, the Shia leaders said. But, they said that silence of the new government regarding the Imamia colony incident was encouraged the anti-peace elements and forces. We will not tolerate more the killing innocent Shias, he warned, asked the government and law enforcement agencies now should act against the hidden network of banned organisations, to control killing of innocent people. The Shia leaders demanded of the government to immediate announce a financial package for victims' families of Imamia colony bomb blast and to take effective of establishment of peace and ending targeted killing in the province.
