Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has issued notices to defaulter federal and provincial departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the payment of the arrears of Rs 7,556 million outstanding against them in head of utility bills. According to a spokesman of the company, through the notice the company has asked all defaulter departments to clear their outstanding arrears up to June 10 otherwise their power supply would be disconnected without any further notice.
The spokesman said that some of the defaulter government departments have started paying their outstanding arrears, while those who fail to deposit their outstanding arrears before the deadline would face disconnected from June 11. He said that one of the main causes of the deficit of the company is long outstanding arrears against government departments, due to which Pesco is facing difficulties in timely completion of its ongoing developmental schemes and provision of facilities to the customers.
Chief Executive, Pesco, Tariq Saddozai has directed the field staff to start recovery and disconnect campaign against the defaulter government departments, who fail to deposit their outstanding arrears. He has once again requested all the defaulter government departments and general public in their own interest to deposit their outstanding arrears before the deadline and avoid facing any inconvenience. He said that the Pesco has outstanding arrears of Rs 267 million against Secretary SAFRON, Municipal Corporation Peshawar Rs 213 million, Chief Engineer PHE Peshawar Rs 128 million, IG Police Peshawar, Rs 38 million, Chief Engineer Irrigation Rs 26 million, Inspector General Frontier Constabulary Rs 26 million, DC Swat Rs 22 million, Chief Engineer Tarbela Dam Project Rs 23 million.
Meanwhile, in compliance with the instructions of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Chief Executive, Pesco, Tariq Saddozai implemented 12 hours aximum load shedding schedule in KP province. Now maximum 12-hour load shedding will be carried out on the feeders according to the allotted quota to Pesco and in case of the violation of the schedule the responsible officer will face strict action. It said that 6 to 10 hours load shedding will be carried out in the areas of no system constraints, while 8 to 12 hours load shedding will be carried out in the areas of constraints.
