The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) held a programme on environment and energy management to observe the World Environment Day. The theme of this year's environment day was 'Think, Eat and Save' which was an anti-food waste and food loss campaign. According to UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), every year 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted.
In his message on World Environment Day, President IoBM Shahjehan Karim said: "All we need to do as a nation is to think of the poor and consciously grab only the portion of the consumable food which we can fully eat, leaving aside the rest consumable food hygienic for recycling among the needy and the inconsumable food for eco-friendly usage. Such conscientious food usage will largely be able to solve food problems of those sleeping with hungry stomach in Pakistan and in the world."
