A Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCE) constituted on Tuesday would meet fortnightly to take decisions on matters relating to the entire power chain including generation and distribution. The CCE will be chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif with ministers for Finance, Water and Power, Petroleum and Natural Resources and Chief Minister Punjab as its members.
The decision was taken during a high level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister to review the energy situation which lasted for over three hours here at the PM Office. The meeting was attended by Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid, Advisor on Water and Power Dr Musadiq Malik, representatives of private sector, experts and senior officials.
