The Lahore High Court has disposed of a petition filed by a widow after Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab assured that her son will not be eliminated in a staged encounter. While disposing of the petitioner the court observed that "With the assurance given by highest police officer of the province, there is no reason to disbelieve that the life of petitioner's son would not be protected in accordance with law".
The court directed the IGP to submit a report within a month after personally looking into the matter.
