Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday announced to observe 'day of mourning' on Friday (today), against the killing of party workers and missing of eight activists. Addressing a news conference at party's headquarter, Nine Zero, MQM Deputy Convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool said that Muhammad Asif was among those MQM workers who were missing for last three months and his bullet-riddled body was found near Gulshan-e-Hadeed on Thursday.
He said that the deceased was Joint-Unit Incharge of Unit-84, Landhi Sector and he was taken away by men in civvies from Cantt Station, when he was coming from Faisalabad. Dr Siddiqui termed the killing and missing of party workers, an attempt to push the 'Mohajirs' against the wall. He appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the killing and disappearances of the MQM workers. "Which of the constitution gives the right to detain, kidnapped and later killed innocent citizens of the country without any reason," he questioned.
He alleged that the MQM workers were being killed and kidnapped by Lyari gang war criminals and the officials of Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs). He further said that government and LEAs had become silent spectators over the illegal activities of gang war criminals. He alleged that the LEAs have created Balochistan-like situation in Karachi, where they took away the Baloch youth and then killed them. Members of MQM Co-ordination Committee including Aamir Khan, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Khalid Sultan, Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui, Aslam Afridi and Nisar Panhwar were also present on the occasion.
