The Karachi Port handled 126,149 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,029 tonnes of import cargo and 36,120 tonnes of export cargo including 6,540 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 90,029 tonnes comprised 44,550 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,643 tonnes of general cargo; 3,836 tonnes of DAP and 40,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,120 tonnes comprised 31,442 tonnes of containerised cargo; 207 tonnes of general cargo; 4,471 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,135 tonnes of cement and 1,336 tonnes of talcum powder. As many as 6,540 containers comprising 3,757 containers import and 2,783 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 949 of 20's and 1,257 of 40's loaded while 92 of 20's and 101 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 970 of 20's and 200 of 40's loaded containers while 165 of 20's and 624 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are two ships namely Oriental Marguerite and Oriental Gold with two oil tankers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels viz Wan Hai-605, Callao Bridge, Oriental Marguerite and Alpine Aqualina with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely UAFL Zanzibar, Wan Hai-605 and Alpine Aqualina with two container ships and one oil tanker sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Cape Verde, Naxi HE and Ebn Batuta with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There are two vessels viz Alice Rickmers and Blue Arrow with one container ship and one cement carrier respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz MT Karachi and Stolt Endurane with one container ship and one ethanol tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 76,925 tonnes comprising 42,769 tonnes of import cargo and 34,156 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,469 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 42,769 tonnes includes 15,832 tonnes of palm oil; 1,646 tonnes of wheat; 5,018 tonnes of chemical and 20,273 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 34,156 tonnes includes 7,518 tonnes of cement and 26,638 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,469 containers comprising 1,062 containers import and 1,407 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There is one ship namely CV Michaelas with containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Amber with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV CMA CGM Amber, CV Michaelas, MV Sam Tiger, MV Titan, MT Furu Holmen, MT Meramis, MT Dynamic Ocean and MT Atlantic Glory are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, wheat and chemicals respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as three ships namely MT Quetta, Genuine Galaxy and Bhairavi with furnace oil, palm oil and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are four vessel viz CV Maersk Hartfold, CV MSC Clementina, MT Al-Salam-II and MV Peace Gem with containers, diesel oil and canola seeds are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) respectively on Friday.
