Improving law and order: Sindh government allocates Rs 48.63 billion in budget

Sindh government has allocated Rs 48.63 billion in the next fiscal year's budget to improve law and order in the province with about 10,000 jobs creation in police department. The government hopes that mobilisation of additional resources through new fiscal measures will help it increase the number of jobs in police department to 20,000.
The government has earmarked Rs 16.50 million in the budget to undertake a project to control the proliferation of illegal arms through introducing Computerised Arms Licensing System.
Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said, "We are being challenged by miscreants and terrorists who are trying to destroy the peace and tranquillity of our province." He said that the government procured armoured vehicles for police at a cost of Rs 1.242 billion during the current fiscal year to strengthen the law enforcers, besides providing them with a GSM locator facility at a cost of Rs 2.79 billion. About Rs 400 million have been contributed as compensation to the families of general public and police officials who killed during violence, he said.
