Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has strongly condemned the forceful possession of its Shah Faisal and Malir offices by violent attackers. Some ruffians at Shah Faisal area also held the utility's employees as hostages for the whole day on Tuesday and did not let them to attend to other faults in the area. Massive damage also caused to the assets at KESC both Centres.
The attackers at Shah Faisal demanded power supply to Reta Plot Flyover PMT of 250-KVA, which had become faulty due to illegal overload and Kundas. Its outstanding dues have reached over Rs 12 million and electricity loss is as high as 66 per cent. The local residents have regularly been making violent attacks at KESC's employees and vehicles making them hostage almost on a daily basis for the last 3/4 days, sometimes resorting to opening aerial gunfire at the gate of the centre terrorising employees. There are resultant delays in attending complaints which has been fetching more mobs and violence.-PR
