Multan Chamber hails Supreme Court judgement on GST

Hailing the judgement of Supreme Court of Pakistan in which it declared one percent increase in general sales tax (GST) as unconstitutional and ordered immediate withdrawal of the hike, Acting President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Bakhtawar Tanvir Sheikh said that there was no justification to levy GST on zero-rated item and increasing the rate of GST by one percent. He said that government was receiving sales tax on POL products, and other items like tea, vegetable ghee, etc since very first day of arrival of budget proposals.
