Former skipper Aamer Sohail has called for complete overhauling in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) set-up for the betterment of the support. Pakistan cricket would struggle like hockey and squash, he said while giving his comments on a private TV channel on Friday night. "Pakistan cricket team is struggling and suffering because of maladministration and poor management", he pointed. Immediate drastic steps are needed to put the game back on track, he said.
"We needed dedicated, honest and professionals people to run the affairs of cricket in the PCB", he said. We must remove the mafia within the board which has ruin cricket, former chief selector and director game, said. He alleged that former Pakistan captains and other players working in the board have done nothing for the game despite enjoying perks and heavy salaries.
It may be mentioned here that ex-captains Intikhab Alam, Javed Miandad, Wasim Bari former Test cricketers Zakir Khan, Haroon Rasheed, and Shafique Papa are holding key position in the board. Bold Aamer Sohail said he felt sorry for performance of Pakistan team in Champions Trophy and before on South Africa tour. "This was clear reason and impact of poor and inconsistent policies of the board", he said. Aamer Sohail said he left PCB to save his respect and pride because it was very difficult to work in a poor system.
Former Pakistan Test paceman Jalaluddin also lashed out at the poor policies and system which was main cause of decline in cricket. He expressed the hope that after the failures of top players deserving players would be inducted in the team. He said Pakistan was lacking in the backup line but deserving batsmen should be exposed to international cricket to develop them for future. Pakistan cricket cannot be put on the track without proper development at the lower level, Jalaluddin, who performed the first hat-trick in One-day International, stressed.
