Punjab University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that increase in difficulties of people is affecting their hearts and minds due to which psychological problems are on the rise. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of new building of Centre for Clinical Psychology near Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, New Campus on Friday.
Centre for Clinical Psychology's Director Professor Dr Rukhsana Kausar, former chairperson Professor Dr Rafia Hassan, Dean Professor Dr Liaqat Ali, President Pakistan Association for Clinical Psychologists Professor Dr Nashi Khan, Secretary Academic Staff Association Javed Sami, RO-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, heads of various departments, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Mujahid Kamran said that the subject of psychology was gaining much importance and psychologists could play their role in providing mental relief to the people.
Lauding the government for allocating 57 billion rupees to higher education, the VC said that the country was now inching towards betterment. He also requested the government to release the grant according to schedule.
He also lauded Professor Dr Rukhsana Kausar for taking initiative of providing psychological ad to the victim families of tragic Gujrat school van incident. Dr Rafia Hassan, chairperson of the centre in 1984, expressed her pleasure on the establishment of the new building.
In her inaugural address, Dr Rukhsana Kausar explained the design and facilities of the new building. She expressed her zeal to make CCP a progressive and dynamic institute offering quality training in clinical psychology.
She said that we would have full-fledged hospital and drug rehabilitation centre in future. She thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for his support and Higher Education Commission for financial assistance. The ceremony was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Nashi Khan. Later, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran and others visited the newly-constructed building.
