More than 25 special Ramazan Bazaars would be set up in the district under the arrangements of city district government in order to provide essential commodities to the consumers on specially reduced price during the holy month of Ramazan.
This was disclosed by DCO Najam Ahmad Shah while presiding over a meeting held here for reviewing the Ramazan arrangements. Giving details, the DCO informed that in the area of TMA Iqbal Town, six Ramazan bazaars would be established at Fawara Chowk Batala Colony, Iron Market near Samundri road, Tenkywala Chowk Allama Iqbal Colony, Sports Complex Samanabad, Adda Dijkot and Sastam Model Bazaar Jhang road whereas in the area of TMA Madina Town five bazaars would be set up at Akbar Chowk Gulistan Colony, Fizan-e-Madina Chowk Susan road, Mehndi Mohalla Mansurabad, Saleemi Chowk Satiana road, opposite Textile University Manawala Sheikhupura road while in the area of TMA Jinnah Town four Ramazan bazars would work at Gole Masjid Chowk Ghulam Mohammadabad, Chatriwali Ground Jinnah Colony, Adda Sadhar, Sawar Khan Park Dijkot road and in the area of Lyallpur Town three Bazaars would be planed at Main Gate Iqbal Stadium, Millat road and Eidgah opposite Darbar Qaim Sain. Adding he said that three bazars would also be set up in Jaranwala Town at Grain Market, Khurrianwala Jhumra road, Satiana Adda in Tandilianwala at Govt. Girls College road and Sem Nahar bridge near Rail Bazar Mamukanjun, Qasim Samundri and Grain Market Chakjhumra. The DCO maintained that these bazars would be started before first week of Ramazan. He directed that the duty roaster should be issued to run the Bazar successfully with co-ordinated efforts. He said that comprehensive arrangements be made for ensuring cleanliness and security in special Bazaars and parking area should be specified away from the Bazaar due security reasons.
The DCO asked the ACs, officers of Agriculture, Livestock, Market Committee and other departments to contact traders of essential commodities for smooth supply of meat, chicken, pulses, sugar, vegetables, fruits, beverages and other kitchen items of subsidised rates.
He advised that complaint centre should be set up at each Bazaar besides ensuring the duty of labour department staff for the checking of weight and measures. WASA officers were also directed to inspect the sites of Ramazan bazaars for devising plan for disposal of water from the low lying areas near Bazaars in case of rains. The DCO warned that no lethargy or dereliction from duty regarding the proper arrangements of Bazaars would be tolerated and defaulters would be taken to task as Punjab govt had issued special instructions to organise Ramazan Bazaars in a befitting manner for the relief of consumers.
