Former Surgeon General of Pakistan and Principal CMH Medical Lahore, Lieutenant General Syed Afzaal Ahmed (Retd) on Saturday said the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is a torch bearer for under training doctors and expressed the hope that the CPSP will play a pivotal role in the grooming of doctors. He said this while addressing a five-day workshop on Research and IT that concluded at CPSP Regional Center.
Syed Afzaal Ahmed said doctor should continue to focus on learning so that medical education can progress. He said the present CPSP Council has performed remarkably well. He added that training of doctors is going on in CPSP which will be useful for the welfare of human being. Professor Rakhshanda Rehman said on the occasion that the CPSP is using its resources for the well-being of doctors. With the help of these training workshops doctors are prepared mentally and morally to face challenges ahead, she added.
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal said the leadership of CPSP has signed MoUs with other developed countries. Pakistani doctors are getting salaries equal to other doctors in these countries and the demand of CPSP trained doctors is increasing in the world, he said.
Professor Mahmood Ayyaz, National Director for ATLS said that doctors have been selected irrespective of their cast and creed to work in Ireland. He further said CPSP believes in merit and transparency in medical education for progress. Later on Syed Afzaal Ahmed distributed certificates amongst the participants of the workshops.
