The incidence of crimes has witnessed a sharp increase in the federal Capital last week despite tall claims of strict security arrangements by police for bringing down the crime rate. According to information gathered from various police stations of the city, the Capital police have registered eight cases of car lifting, six cases of robbery during the week and police have not been able to trace the criminals in majority of the cases.
During the last week three unknown armed robbers snatched mobile phones and a laptop from former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Muhammad Malik Yousaf in the limits of Industrial Area police station. Last week Abpara police registered three cases of carjacking and one case of robbery. Ameer Hamza informed Abpara police that his motorbike (RIQ-3962) parked in front of a local hotel has been stolen from Meloday market by unknown persons. Abdul Waheed also registered a complaint in Abpara police station that his car bearing registration number IDM-2418 parked at Abpara market has been lifted by unknown carjackers. Shehzad informed Abpara police that his car bearing registration number RIV 1640 was stolen from Abpara market. Mehar Ali lodged a complaint in Abpara police station that his mobile phone worth Rs 60000 was snatched by unknown thieves.
Shalimar police station registered two cases of robbery last week. Saleem Khan informed Shalimar police station that unknown people looted his house and took away jewellery and other valuables worth million of rupees. Another Shahzad registered a complaint in Shalimar police station and alleged that his servant has stolen two mobiles, a pistol and cash from his house.
Muhammad Hanfi informed Ternol police station that his Mehran car bearing registration number ASV-777 parked in front of his house has been stolen by unknown carjackers. Shujat Rehman informed Kohsar police station that unknown thieves robbed his house and took away LCD and other valuables. Ayaz Ahmad informed Shehzad town police station that his car bearing registration number LB 5706 has been stolen by unknown car lifters. Last week Industrial Area police and Margalla police registered one case of carjacking while Kohsar and Bara Kahu police registered one case each of robbery.
