Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to field its candidates on all the national and provincial assembly constituencies in the by-elections scheduled on August 22. In the general election 2013, several candidates of various political parties, had succeeded from more than one constituency, either the national or provincial assembly, vacated their other seats.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan has scheduled by-elections on all the vacant NA and PK constituencies including NA-1 Peshawar, NA-5 Nowshera and NA-13 Swabi, and that of provincial assembly constituencies PK-23, PK-27 and PK-70, to be held on August 22.
The JI KP chapter Naib Ameer and incharge provincial Election Cell, Dr Iqbal Khalil on Saturday in a statement said that JI is prepared to fully take part in the by-elections across the province. "We have directed party respective district Umaras (heads) to send their recommendations regarding the names of candidates, taking part in by-election, to party provincial election cell before July 3, he added. The Naib Ameer also informed that the JI provincial Parliamentary Board will finalise the names of candidates to contest by-elections on the NA and PK constituencies till July 5.
