The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday sought an explanation from the government on the appointment of Najam Sethi as acting Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, while hearing the petition challenging the appointment of Najam Sethi as acting PCB chief filed by a citizen through Tariq Asad, sought explanation from the ministry of inter-provincial co-ordination in the matter.
The petitioner told the court that Sethi's appointment as PCB acting chairman was made on political grounds. According to the petition, Sethi has no understanding of cricket, therefore he should be barred from working as PCB acting chief. Justice Siddiqui said that he came to know about Sethi's appointment as PCB acting chief through media reports. The court observed that Sethi's name was included in the list submitted before the court. The list also included the names of Mumtaz Rizvi, Chishti Mujahid and Majid Khan, he said.
