The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed against Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain as the petitioner failed to submit corroborative evidence in the matter. A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Watan Party through its president Hashim Shaukat Khan and Barrister Zafarullah Khan under Article 184 of the Constitution.
The Supreme Court had asked the Watan Party to seek clarity from the Election Commission of Pakistan on the question of who is officially leading the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - Altaf Hussain or Farooq Sattar. The court was informed that MQM was registered in the name of Farooq Sattar according to the ECP record. Later, the bench dismissed the petition.
