The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday ordered to release 20 kiln workers including women and children who were recovered from detention of Malik Imran Waseem a kiln owner from Kasur. Akbar Ali moved a habeas corpus petition for the recovery of his family members from detention of kiln owner. He alleged that the kiln owners violated the agreement and never paid them salary according to the agreement and on demand of their wages, they were detained.
He alleged that detainees were being subjected to torture and forced labour by the kiln owner. He said he had moved an application to the police, which had not taken any action for their release. The court had deputed bailiff who raided the kiln and recovered detainees and produced them before court. The court ordered to set the detainees at liberty and also ordered registration of case against kiln owners.
