Traders' community asked the district administration to take effective steps for amicable resolution of their issues, particularly law and order, traffic problems and encroachment; they assured to extend every possible support in this regard.
The community raised a number of issues and put several suggestions for handling them by effective co-ordination between traders and district administration, during a visit of Commissioner Peshawar, Sahibzada Mohammad Anees, here at Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry SCCI on Wednesday. The Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Javed Marwat accompanied him.
During meeting, the issues mainly focused on illegal harassment of traders, law and order, traffic problems and encroachment. The community assured the district administration to extend full co-operation, asked to frame policies with their consultation, which could be effectively implemented. The leader of traders' community, including Sharafat Ali Mubarak, SCCI Vice President Anees Ashraf, Malik Iftikhar Awan, Zahid Shinwari, Safi Bashir and others were present during the meeting.
While speaking on the occasion, SCCI President Dr Mohammad Yousaf Sarwar stressed the need for effective co-ordination between business community and district administration. He suggested that the price review committee should be made more effective under the Public-Private partnership programme.
SCCI Chief asked the district administration to take action against those people selling sub-standard and spurious medicines and food adulterated. He also raised the issue of domicile, asked to bring easiness in issuance of domicile through one-window system.
The traders' community expressed voice concern over illegal raids of shops and markets and arrest of vendors on charges of selling sub-standard food. They suggested for devising effective mechanism for sample testing.
Commissioner Peshawar, Sahibzada Mohammad Anees, assured the traders to address their issues on the priority basis. He asked the business community and SCCI to recommend names for a joint committee, which could mutually work for redressing the issues. About the traffic issue, he informed that services of traffic engineers from Punjab have been hired, which will devise a good traffic management plan for the provincial metropolis.
Regarding the steps for maintaining law-and-order situation, he said a high level meeting is to be called, in which decision would be taken for protection of business community and general masses.
