The Karachi Port handled 108,711 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,942 tonnes of import cargo and 42,769 tonnes of export cargo including 7,473 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 65,942 tonnes comprised 39,523 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,558 tonnes of general cargo; 3,729 tonnes of bulk cargo and 19,132 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,769 tonnes comprised 40,604 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,165 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 7,473 containers comprising 3,420 containers import and 4,053 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,057 of 20's and 942 of 40's loaded while 39 of 20's and 220 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 623 of 20's and 898 of 40's loaded containers while 192 of 20's and 721 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are three ships with two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels with three container ships and one general cargo ship respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 69,378 tonnes includes 42,830 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,999 tonnes of edible oil; 8,149 tonnes of chemical and 8,400 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 12,357 tonnes includes 2,424 tonnes of cement and 9,933 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Wagner, MV Stolt Helluland and MT Lahore with containers, chemical and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV CMA CGM Wagner, MV Vindo Nissa, MV Argent Eyebright, MV Faith, MV Stolt Helluland, MV Pearl Jabel Ali and MT Lahore are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, edible oil, chemical, iron ore and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely MSC Kerry, CMA CGM Eiffel, Kerstin, Al-Soor-II and MT Quetta with containers, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels with containers, cement and edible oil respectively took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are four ships namely CV MSC Kerry, CMA CGM Eiffel, Kerstin and Al-Soor-II with containers, and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
