At least five persons including two cops were killed in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis, here Thursday. According to police and rescue sources, two unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate gunshots on policemen at Karimabad Furniture Market in the limits of Azizabad police station.
Resultantly, two policemen namely Ghayasuddin 42 and Saleem sustained serious bullet wounds. Police said that Ghayas succumbed to his injuries on the spot while Saleem was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition. Police said Ghayas, who was the father of three, was residing in Malir area while Saleem was a resident of Musa Colony.
A religious scholar namely Kaleemullah, 34 lost his life in a drive-by shooting at Nazimabad No 2 in the jurisdiction of Gulbahar police station. Police said the deceased belonged to Tableeghi Jamaat and added that the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.
42-year-old Rehman Shah, son of Salman Shah was killed when he offered resistance during a robbery bid at Sikandarabad, Keamari in the limits of Jackson police station. Police said that Rehman hailed from Swabi area. A bullet-riddled body of a man was recovered from Chawkiwara area. Police said the deceased was identified as Amjad Baloch, son of Behram Baloch and added that he had close links with Lyari gang war and that might have been the reason for his murder.
An ASI namely Ghulam Mustafa, son of Mansab Khan was shot dead at Amber Plaza located at Block-A, Sindhi Muslim Society in the limits of Ferozabad police station. Police said Mustafa was deployed in Ferozabad area and added that he was 92nd policeman, who lost his life this year. No case was registered till filing of this report.
