Pakistan Muslim League-Q has lauded Supreme Court's directions to the provinces to hold local bodies' elections and said local governments would strengthen democracy and solve problems at the grass-roots level. Talking to Business Recorder PML-Q Central Information Secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha said both Pakistan People's Party and PML-N governments are reluctant to hold local bodies' elections in Sindh and Punjab, respectively from 2009.
He said it is good for the country that the Supreme Court took sou motu notice of this constitutional violation and directed the Federal and Provincial Governments to present their stance in connection with holding the local bodies' polls. Senator Agha said PML-Q strongly believes in the local bodies and devolution of power for solution of the people's problems at local level. He said his Party is quite geared up to participate in the local bodies' elections as its leaders have a vast experience to run these bodies.
