Karachi Electric Supply Company has expressed concern over the rising trend of mob protests and violence at its sensitive installations and advised people to refrain from disturbing the power transmission and distribution system in their own interest.
KESC has demanded that the general public needed to remain calm and control their temperament as holding KESC employees hostage and brutally assaulting them will not be of help for anyone. Quoting a recent incident, occurred at Moosa Colony, street no 3 where a 250 KVA PMT was declared faulty, and upon rectification the KESC members were taken hostage for more than 5 hours and beaten up relentlessly. Among the hostages, were the deputy general manager and senior representatives of the power company. KESC has also categorically said that if such incidents occur again in any area, KESC wants the residents to know that there will be no rectification or maintenance work in that particular area then.
KESC has demanded that the law enforcing agencies should take a strict and immediate action against such residents who do not have the decency to pay bills and yet hold employees of the power utility hostage and brutally beat them up.-PR
