Jamaat-i-Islami former lawmakers termed the 'closure' of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) an economic murder of thousands of families. In a statement issued here on Thursday, JI ex-legislators Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi, Laeeq Khan, Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Hameedullah Khan Advocate and Younus Barai have expressed their deep concern over the complete closure of PSM.
Condemning the apathy of government towards the national steel industry, JI former lawmakers were of the view that its closure was tantamount to deprive thousands of families from their daily bread and butter. They demanded of the government to take effective measures in that regard so that the families of the employees could be saved from any untoward situation during Holy month of Ramazan.
They further demanded of the authorities concern to announce bailout package for the employees and direct the KESC to restore electricity of Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Steel Town and PSM. JI former legislators regretted that a national industry which contributed a lot in boosting the national economy, now at the verge of collapse, as all the production plants had been stopped and the employees were on the roads.-PR
