Prosecutor General Sindh Shahadat Awan on Saturday said the prosecutors should be empowered to fulfill their professional duties in an independent, impartial and objective manner for providing relief to the litigants. He said," Rule of law is the fundamental element of a successful society. Our judicial system pledges to uphold the rule of law and the judiciary has proved that no one is above the law."
He was speaking at a certificate-awarding ceremony of a one-week refresher course on the "Role of Law Officers vis-a-vis Quick disposal of Criminal cases" for prosecutors from all over the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Blatistan, here at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA). The responsibility of prosecutors is to promote and strengthen the rule of law, including through combating impunity and ensuring the lawfulness of the State actions, he added.
He said modern protection services placed important emphasis on sound `case management practices', "strategic planning performance-based standards', effective use of modern technologies and sustained co-operation with the law enforcement agencies. The overall objective of criminal policy is, to reduce crime and increase the sense of security that people experience, he added.
