The people affected by security forces operations in Kurram Agency on Saturday staged a protest demonstration on main Sher Shah Suri Road here outside the Press Club, demanding of the government to immediately halt the ongoing operation in the Agency and to extend a compensation package for the affected families. The protest was spearheaded by elders mostly victims of the military operation in the Agency. The demonstrators were holding placards and banner yell slogans against the prolonged security forces and displacement from their hometown.
Talking to reporters, the elders said that a large number of people had been affected due the ongoing military operation and had taken shelter in other parts of the province. They viewed that the affected families, particularly aged, women and children were facing hardship due to non-availability of food items and inadequate facilities at the makeshift IDPs camp.
The displaced people alleged the officials asked them to come after two to three times for food items, despite availability of sufficient stock at the food-distribution point/warehouse for IDPs at Haji camp Peshawar, which was totally unjust with the affected families. They demanded the authorities to notice against it and start distribution of food items among the affected people of the Kurram Agency.
