The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has denounced the spate of recent unfounded criticism in a section of the press. The criticism appears to be an attempt to try and turn the recent report by its Policy Board into a basis to spread malicious rumours and unsubstantiated accusations against the SECP and its officers. The SECP's Policy Board had prepared a report regarding the SECP's affairs under the specific orders of the Supreme Court.
The objective of this exercise was to improve the performance and efficiency of the organisation. The report has already been submitted to the Supreme Court. The SECP views with great concern that certain elements are spreading these baseless insinuations about the SECP.-PR
