A grand South Asian Heritage Festival of Mississauga is being held in Canada from August 12 in which music, film festival, arts and other cultural activities will be the salient features with 200 prominent personalities from different walks of life being the special participants.
According to a message received here from the organisers, Canadian Community Arts Initiative is a not for profit organisation, established to unite artists, art aficionados and persons interested in art and allied fields for fellowships and musical support to promote the creative importance of the arts. Its Board of Directors comprise Asma Arshad Mahmood, Ali Adil Khan, GustaveHeme Lozano, Arshad Mahmood, Kamal Ahuja, Ashish Gandhi, H Amyn, Tahir Aslam Gora and Ricky Bajaj.
This year's Virsa Visual Arts exhibition of the festival will feature retrospective works of world-renowned South Asian artist and social crusader from Pakistan Jimmy Engineer and on display will be his selective creative work he has done from 1980 to 2010. The art show of Jimmy Engineer will be held at Promenade Gallery. The organisers message said that Jimmy Engineer will also be present at the opening of the show on August 12 at Promenade Gallery. He will be available to speak to his fans and media till August 19 while the show will go on till September 4. Some landmark signed prints that show vast range of his work over the years will also be presented.
