Pakistan women cricket team recorded a 20-run victory against their counterparts from Netherlands and qualified for the semifinals of ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier on Saturday in Dublin. The match was reduced to only nine overs due to wet outfield as Dublin has been having some torrential rain over the last few days.
Pakistan batted first in the match and put on board 72-4 in nine overs. Nain Abidi played well for the side scoring unbeaten 38 off only 27 balls. Bismah Maroof scored 25 off 17 balls. Mariska Kornet took two wickets. In response Netherlands scored 52-5 in nine overs. HW Rambaldo top scored for the side with 15 runs. Sumaiya Siddiqi and skipper Sana Mir captured one wicket each. Nain Abidi received player of the match award for playing an unbeaten knock of 38 runs.
Pakistan confirmed its presence in the semifinal with three wins out of three matches in group round. However, Netherlands also secured its place in the semifinals with only a single win but a better Net Run-Rate then other group teams Thailand and Zimbabwe. The semifinals would be played on July 29 and other semifinalists are yet to be announced. Pakistan is now only a single win away from qualifying for the ICC World Twenty20. The qualifiers has been contested among host Ireland, Canada, Japan, Pakistan, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Zimbabwe fighting for three qualification spots to the ICC World Twenty20, to be held in Bangladesh next year.
