The Punjab government has assured All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) that it will resolve all outstanding issues of the CNG sector including misuse and inequitable distribution of gas and alleged violation of laws by different departments.
The assurance was given during a meeting here on Sunday, which was chaired by MNA Pervaiz Malik and attended by Punjab Minister for Energy Chaudhry Sher Ali, the Secretary Energy, the Planning and Development Chairman and other senior officials of the provincial government. APCNGA was represented by Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Abid Hayat, Captain Shuja (retd), Fayaz Gillani, Anjum Niaz and Ashar Haleem.
Paracha said that the association highlighted the issue of gas theft by certain elements besides unauthorised and misuse of natural gas.
He observed that the CNG sector was being destroyed due to unjust gas distribution and violation of rules and regulations by different departments. He was of the view that those who wanted to generate electricity through gas should have separate meters for it.
He accused that the gas sale agreements were being openly violated while 2200 CNG filling stations in Punjab were on the verge of closure.
Speaking on the occasion, Pervaiz Malik assured all out support to the representatives of the CNG sector saying that the government would not allow anyone to hurt any business and that it would provide level playing field to all.
