The Karachi Port handled 173,759 tonnes of cargo comprising 124,218 tonnes of import cargo and 49,541 tonnes of export cargo including 6,245 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 124,218 tonnes comprised 85,467 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,940 tonnes of general cargo and 13,938 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,135 tonnes of soyabean meal; 9,803 tonnes of rock phosphate and 13,873 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,541 tonnes comprised 35,344 tonnes of containerised cargo; 124 tonnes of general cargo; 473 tonnes of cement and 13,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,245 containers comprising 3,167 containers import and 3,078 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,084 of 20's and 953 of 40's loaded while 87 of 20's and 45 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 712 of 20's and 341 of 40's loaded containers while 1,078 of 20's and 303 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are nine ships namely Neshai, APL Oman, Kota Gembria, Hansa Nord Bugr, YM South, Chang Hang Zhen, Lodestar Genesis, Marwan H and SFL Yukon with five container ships, two oil tankers and two general cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are eleven vessels viz Hanjin Durban, Northern Power, Neshat, Northern Prelude, Hyundai General, Cimbria, Klara, MT Lahore, SCF Pioneer, JS Garonne and Liberty Promise with six container ships, three oil tankers, one bulk cargo ship and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Hanjin Durban and Butinah with one container ship and one rock phosphate carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Cimbria with one container ship expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are two vessels viz Alice Rickmers and Asiatic with one containers ship and one steel ship due to arrive on Monday, while nine vessels viz APL Brisbane, Aysan, Cape Marin, Wan Hai-512, Al Jalaa, Dawn, Stolt Surf, Dawnlight and Zhen Hua-27 with four container ships, one crude oil tanker, one ethanol tanker, one chemical carrier, one soyabean meal and one tractor/crane carrier respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 59,661 tonnes comprising 48,657 tonnes of import cargo and 11,004 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 668 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV MSC Kerry, MT Atlantic Glory, MV Beacon SW, Elini-D, Chem Road Wing, Brightoil Legend and MT Argent Daisy are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, urea, chemical, crude oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships with containers and edible oil currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were four vessels with chemicals, urea and crude oil took berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP) and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Sunday.
