River Chenab at Marala, Khanki & Qadirabad is likely to attain high flood level on Wednesday including nullahs at Bhimber, Bhunder, Palku, Aik. River Ravi may also attain high flood level, Meteorological Department said here on Tuesday.
Muhammad Riaz Chief Meteorological FFD, said that low-lying areas of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandibahauddin districts around the riverbed may cause inundation. All concerned authorities have been warned to take precautionary measures to avoid loss of human lives and property.
FLOOD FORECAST FOR RIVER CHENAB River Chenab at Marala is likely to attain a high flood level ranging between 200,000 to 300,000 cusecs at 1400 PST of 30-07-2013 to 2359 PST of 30-07-2013. High flood ranging between 200,000 to 300,000 cusecs is expected in River Chenab at Khanki.
High flood ranging between 200,000 to 300,000 cusecs is expected in River Chenab at Qadirabad during the period 0400 PST of 31-07-2013 to 1400 PST of 31-07-2013.
Nullahs of river Chenab (Bhimber, Bhunder, Palku, Aik) and of River Ravi (Hasri Deg, Bein, Basantar) may also attain high flood level during the period 1200 PST of 30-07-2013 to 1400 PST of 31-07-2013. River Indus is also in low flood at Tarbela, Chashma, Taunsa and Guddu and the River Kabul at Nowshera is also in low flood level at Nowshera.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR WEDNEDAY Rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places of Kashmir, upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar division), Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha divisions), while at isolated places of Faisalabad, Kohat, Bannu, D.I Khan, Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi, Mirpur Khas division. Heavy falls are also expected at a few places of Kashmir, Northeast Punjab and Hazara division during the period.
Fairly, widespread thunderstorm/rain with heavy falls at isolated places is expected in next 48 hours over the upper catchments of River Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej & Beas. Nullahs of Rivers Ravi & Chenab may also attain medium to very high flood level.
