Heavy rains may cause flash floods in Balochistan

Flood Forecasting Centre Lahore has warned that heavy falls are expected at scattered places of Sibbi, Nasirabad and Kalat division that may cause flash flooding in the local streams of vulnerable areas of Balochistan In a significant flood forecast, it said here on Thursday that medium to heavy flooding is likely in Hill Torrents of DG Khan and Rajanpur Districts during the period from 1500 PST Of 01/08/2013 to 0100 PST of 02/08/2013.
It said wet spell is likely to increase further. River Chenab & River Jhelum may attain Medium to High flood level. Nullahs of Rivers Chenab & Ravi may also attain Medium to High flood level. Fairly Widespread thunderstorm/rain with heavy falls at isolated places and very heavy falls at one or two places is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej & Beas along with upper Punjab (Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad Divisions). Scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, South Punjab & Northeast Balochistan.

Rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places of Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Malakand, Hazara divisions, while at isolated places of Kohat, Bannu, Peshawar, D.I. Khan, Multan, Kalat, Sibbi, Nairabad & Mirpurkhas divisions. Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Kashmir, Northeast Punjab & Hazara division.
Weather next 48 hrs: Rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places of Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Malakand, Hazara divisions, while at isolated places of Kohat, Bannu, Peshawar, D.I. Khan, Multan, Kalat, Sibbi, Nasirabad divisions & lower Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Karachi divisions). Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Kashmir, upper Punjab & upper KP. Weather past 24 hrs: Isolated rain-thundershower occurred in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Sargodha, Malakand, Hazara, Bannu, Kalat, Sibbi divisions, Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan. Weather remained hot & humid in other parts of the country Rivers position, River Indus at Kalabagh & Guddu and River Kabul at Nowshera are in Low Flood Level.
