Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed all the provinces to make arrangements to reserve at least 2 percent of total number of seats in medical, engineering and other professional institutions and Universities for students hailing from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). He further directed Cabinet Division, Education, Trainings and Standards in Higher Education and National Health Services, Regulations and Co-ordination Divisions to make similar arrangements for the institutions falling in the federal Capital.
The PM issued these directives with the objective of enabling the mainstreaming of Fata students, who could return to serve in some of the most backward areas and also perform as agents of change and catalysts of modernisation. The PM observed that Fata is passing through extremely challenging circumstances and that there is a dearth of quality educational institutions in Fata for the youth. The PM further directed that these directions should be implemented in letter and spirit.-PR
