On the directives of Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid special KW&SB Team working under the supervision of DMD Revenue disconnected water and sewerage lines of 5 plazas. Motors of these plazas, who were defaulter of millions, were confiscated.
KW&SB team is conducting operation against builders and plazas who have not taken approval of their water and sewerage connections or have failed to pay their bills. Builders have made it a practise not to take approval of water and sewerage lines before constructing multi-storey plazas and buildings. Whereas, KW&SB has been contacting builders and plazas for a long time in order to motivate them to pay their bills and acquire approval of connections but to no avail.
Due to these practises KW&SB is suffering from heavy losses in revenue. During the operation KW&SB Default Revenue Generation Cell disconnected water & Sewerage lines of Metro Residency CL-2B Civil Line, Safron CL-82B-1 Civil Line, Metro Sweet Apartments CI-4B Civil Line, Paradise Avenue, Safron Heights FT-07/2 Civil Lines and confiscated their motors as well. However, owners and builders of these plazas have been given a chance to regularise their connections and pay their outstanding dues in order to restore their connection.
Later on, MD KW&SB has requested citizens booking flats, houses and bungalows in new projects to make sure that the builder has acquired necessary approvals from KW&SB before booking their property. This would avoid any troubles for them since KW&SB would be taking action against all such builders and developers who are working without approvals.
He said that KW&SB is a public service institution and citizens must understand their duty towards the betterment of the city. He said that KW&SB provides citizens with facilities, which is only possible if citizens also cooperate with KW&SB and pay their bills on time.-PR
