President of Shia Ulema Council Bahawalpur division, Shiekh Manzoor Hussain and his son, Haider Hussain, were killed in an attack outside their house here on Friday. According to police sources, Sheikh and his son were outside their residence in Abbasia Town area here, when unknown persons attacked and severely injured them. Later, both succumbed to the injuries.
Following the killing of the prominent Shia personality, residents held protests, resorted to aerial firing and damaged public property. Atmosphere in the city has become tense and Eid shopping activities in bazaars and markets significantly lessened.
