Economic Revitalisation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA (ERKF) funded by Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) under the auspices of World Bank (WB) plans to establish Common Facility Centers by providing matching grant up to Rs 5,000,000 to local clusters and group of SMEs.
This initiative is undertaken under the up-gradation grant component of the ERKF Project. An awareness programme has been started in this regard and all associations and group of SMEs have been asked to submit their proposals for evaluation to SMEDA.
In this connection, Sarmad Khan (Project Manager ERKF Project) held meetings with representatives of business clusters of Swat Silk Unit Owners Association and Dir Crush Plants Association. Swat Silk Unit Owners Association termed this initiative would provide a golden opportunity to introduce new technology in the cluster that would result in sustainable growth.
ERKF Project has so far provided matching grants to around 500 SMEs for a cumulative value of more than Rs 400 million. The project is funded under MDTF grant of $20 million and executed by the World Bank through SMEDA, the Department of Industries, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA Secretariat.
