Prices of most of the essential kitchen items have remained stable without any significant change except slight increase in vegetable and poultry products prices as compared to preceding week, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. Traders and vendors in wholesale markets said that the prices of most of the essential kitchen baskets remained unchanged last week and no significance increase was registered in the prices.
However, a slight increase was observed in fruits and vegetable prices due to low supply and production of the commodities, according to vendors.
Tomato is available at Rs 100 per/kg against the Rs70 per/kg in the last week, while prices of onion were unchanged as selling at Rs40 per/kg. Shimla Mirch is being sold at Rs 160 per/kg, which was selling at Rs 100-120 per/kg in the preceding week. Similarly, the cabbage is available at Rs120 per/kg against the rates of Rs80-100 per/kg in last week, Karela at Rs 40 per/kg against Rs 30 per/kg, turnip at Rs 30 per/kg, lady fingers at Rs 50 per kg, Arvi at Rs 50 per kg, bringjle. A slight increase of price of cauliflower is registered as available at Rs 120 per/kg against the Rs 100 during the preceding week. Ginger is available at Rs 160 per/kg, garlic at Rs 120 per kg, green chilli at Rs 120 per/kg, bringjal at 30-40 per kg. Peas, which was available at Rs 120 per/kg in preceding week, now is selling at Rs 180 per/kg. Kado is being sold at Rs 40 per/kg, Turi at Rs 60-70 per/kg. Potato is the only vegetable which price was remained very low in the entire holy month of Ramazan being selling at Rs 20 per kg.
Similarly, prices of all varieties of fruits also plummet in the last week due to decreasing of the demand in the commodities. Banana is being available at Rs 50 per dozen, which was selling at Rs 80 per dozen in preceding week. Mangoes are being sold at Rs 50-70 per kg against the Rs 100-120, Apricot at Rs 100 against Rs 150 in last week. Peach is being sold at Rs 60/kg against Rs80 per kg, Grapes Rs150 per kg against Rs 180 per kg, while apricot is being sold at Rs 100-150 against the Rs 200/kg.
Pulses and ghee/cooking oil prices were remained changed during last week. Dal channa is available at Rs 70 per kg, Dal mach at Rs 120 per/kg, Dal Masoor at Rs 110 per/kg. A good quality rice is being available at Rs 130 per kg, while lower quality rice at Rs 90 per/kg. Lobia is being sold at Rs 120-130 per/kg, white lobia at Rs120 per kg, moonge at Rs120 per kg, Dal Macha chilka Rs130 per kg, moonge toota Rs 120 per kg, and rice toota at Rs 70 per kg.
Chicken meat is available at Rs 166 per kg against the official price of Rs 142 per kg, while live chicken sold at Rs 260-270 and Rs 300. Egg is available Rs 65 per dozen. Milk is sold at Rs 55-60 and Rs 70, while yogurt at Rs 70 per kg. Mutton is available at Rs 500-600 per kg. Wheat flour bag is available at Rs 720-700 per 20 kg, while Rs 42 per kg in retail market.
