With a view to sensitise general public about increasing number of traffic accidents particularly during rush hours, the Safe Communities Pakistan (SCP) in collaboration with Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) launched a public awareness campaign on Road Safety here on Tuesday.
Road safety massages inscribed on Eid cards and Iftaar packets were distributed among road users. Director Admin Brigadier Dr Arshad Zia (Retd), SCP's executive body members including Summiya Siddique, Parker and Randall office bearer Junaid Subhani and rescue officers/officials distributed Iftaar packets and Eid cards at Shama Chowk, Main Ferozepur Road, Lahore. The campaign aims at sensitization of public on road safety issues so that precious human lives could be saved.
Emphasising the importance of road safety awareness, Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer said that road traffic accidents are silent killers in society. Thinking needs to be changed as these accidents are road traffic crashes across the world, he said. Road traffic accidents take place due to fault in vehicle, negligence of driver, and fault in road or the road users, he observed. DG Rescue Punjab further said the purpose of this campaign was to educate citizens about importance and value of their lives. He said these accidents are preventable only through abiding by traffic laws and giving importance to their own and others lives.
