Participants at conference on building unity on "Eidul Fitr" stressed the need for forging unity and religious harmony regarding the "Reut-e-Hilal, and called upon the Ulema from all sects to build consensus on prior to celebrating a major religious festival Eid this year.
The conference was arranged by Caravan Tanzeem, a welfare organisation at the press club on Tuesday. Ulema from different school of thoughts, members and activists political and religious parties, and representatives from civil society organisation were attended the conference.
Keynote speakers included Khalid Ayub, Chairman Caravan Tanzeem, Maulana Abdul Haq, Maulana Syed Abdul Husnain Al-Hussaini from Shia sect, Mualana Abdul Jalil Jan from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, and PTI provincial member, Arif Yousuf and others. Khalid Ayub said the basic purpose of arranging the event, to create a religious harmony and building consensus between Ulema of different school of thought on "Reut-e-Hilal. He stressed the need for forging unity and religious harmony on this important issue.
Ulema while speaking on the occasion said that the Central Reut-e-Hilal committee along with government should be consulted for removal of concerns and mis-perceptions. They said there was need to take help from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on issue of Reut-e-Hilal.
Representative of civil society organisation said that it was prime responsibility of government to resolve the issue of Reut-e-Hilal along with addressing of other problems in the country. They said that the government was also responsible for signing of Moon, especially before and after the Ramazan. PTI provincial member, Arif Yousuf assured that he would table the recommendations of the conference at flour of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
