Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has said that hectic efforts have to be continued on part of every tier of line departments in Fata right at the root level in particular to ensure their result oriented working and making the facilities and resources being provided by government fully beneficial for the respective people.
This he has stated while presiding over a high level meeting to review findings of the inspection reports of the respective heads of the departments with regard to the prevailing state of the services, which their respective subordinate institutions have been providing in various parts of Fata wherein working of health, irrigation and live stock departments in Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, South Waziristan and North Waziristan agencies were discussed at Governor's House, Peshawar.
The Governor particularly took keen interest about the situation with regard to eradicating Tuberculosis, HIV Aid, Malaria, and Hepatitis etc in Fata and desired that complete facts and figures with clear indications in connection with recovery ratio should be furnished to him at the earliest. "It is an encouraging to have a practicable system and institutions throughout Fata but at the same time we also have to ensure their proper working to the desired level", he added.
On a point that not only state of the art diagnostic equipment have been made available to facilitate TB patients in particular but the respective paramedics are also being trained to up-date their knowledge, the Governor further desired that there is also the need to dig out the causes of the TB disease as well as its wide spread in various parts of Fata.
Talking on another point, the Governor assured to continue the serious efforts for up-dating and refurbishing healthcare units and hospitals including TB control centres in Fata, which will prove helpful in making them fully beneficial. While reviewing working of irrigation sector, in Fata, the Governor further desired to provide him detail reports of the investments made so far in respect of dug wells installations as well as construction of flood protection spurts in Bajaur Agency in particular with clear recommendations for making them sustainable and fully useful to the farming community. While referring to a successful working of a solar energy based tube well in the area, he desired to encourage the trend in future too.
As far as performance of livestock development sector is concerned, the Governor said, keeping in view the tremendous scope for its enhanced working, there is also the need to wage more vigorous efforts to fully capitalise the available potential and make it more beneficial for the people.
On a point regarding inspection report of working of its unit meant for South Waziristan Agency, the Governor desired that it should be made more responsive to the needs of the farming community. The Wana based unit of the Livestock Development Department, he added, needs to be further streamlined and desired that he should also be provided complete details about the prevailing state of working of private dispensaries meant for livestock protection as well as the quality of medicines being supplied through them in various parts of Fata as well.
It merits a mention here that the Governor has initiated a process of personally reviewing monthly inspection reports of senior authorities of respective line departments about working of their various subordinate tiers and this was the second meeting of its series in this respect.
