Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) in an emergent meeting criticised the government stance of making withholding agent of sales tax registered firms/companies and termed it unacceptable for the business community. For the betterment of businesses and business community government should withdraw the said decision at its earliest, said President MCCI Mohammad Khan Saddozai.
Talking with traders and industrialists during an emergent meeting, he said Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) had showed concerns over the budget 2013-14 and time had proved in shape of said after-effects of Federal Budget. He said the government in its election campaign promised to provide relief to the masses regarding price hike, energy crisis and law and order but not even a single promise has been fulfilled. Prices of electricity and petroleum had been increased which directly affected the common man, he added.
"Like previous government, instead of enhancing tax base current government is also putting burden on already taxpayers which is hampering business activities," he said. RCCI President said that such steps of government demoralise the taxpayers in case of no extraction of said decision the sales tax registered firms would be no longer exist.
