Punjab Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed on Tuesday paid a visit to Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS). PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, renowned columnist Hassan Nisar, Director IAGS Professor Dr Saleem Haider, Director Information Agriculture Department Rafiq Ahkter, Senior Technical Officer Agriculture Dr Ghazanfar Ali and faculty members were present on the occasion.
IAGS Director Professor Dr Saleem Haider gave a detailed presentation regarding the institute, academics and research projects. Dr Farrukh lauded the role of IAGS and said that the research projects being carried out at IAGS would help improve agriculture sector.
Faculty member of Punjab University's Oriental College Department of Urdu Professor Dr Muhammad Kamran represented Pakistan in an international conference, which was jointly organised by International Academic Forum and British universities in United Kingdom.
As many as 150 scholars from all over the world participated in the conference while from Pakistan only Dr Kamran was selected to present research paper on "Role of Internet in Promotion of Classical Urdu Poetry". Professor Dr Kamran also had meetings with Manchester's Mayor Lord Naeemul Hassan and other personalities for promotion of Urdu literature in United Kingdom. PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran congratulated Dr Kamran on this achievement.
