First Eid special train on Tuesday started its journey from Karachi to Peshawar. Eid special train departed from Karachi Cantt station around 11am on Tuesday. Deputy Director Superintendent (DDS), Divisional Mechanical Officer (DMO) and other Railway officers were present on the occasion.
As many as 1122 passengers took the advantage of the special offer, said the station manager here. At the other hand, the commuters of regular trains seem much disappointed due to delay in the arrival and departure of trains, as many trains including Millat Express, Zakarya Express, Karachi Express, Karakorum Express, and Allama Iqbal Express got late for hours on Tuesday as well.
Passengers at Cantt station present told Business Recorder that nothing has been done by the new Minister of Railways regarding betterment of the system for providing more facilities to the commuters, as previous issues of Pakistan railways exist without any positive change.
Obaid Bukhari, who had purchased a ticket of Awami Express going to his home town "Rohari" with his family, has cancelled his tickets just because of the delay of train. He said the actual timing of departure of train was at 8:00am, but the administration told him that the train would be delayed at least for six hours.
He said, when he demanded to get back the amount of ticket, he was told to come after Eidul Fitr to receive the amount. He was further told that the amount of ticket would be refunded after 30 percent deduction on the actual amount of ticket. A few passengers had also complained against the reservation staff at Karachi Cantt station for charging extra money of the actual amount of tickets. Safdar, a passenger also complained about charging an extra amount of Rs 70 of the actual ticket price. Passengers urged the Government to take serious steps in resolving long lasting issues being faced by them.
